Annual Leave Remuneration - New National Agreement
There is now a new annual leave agreement that has been agreed between the Police Federation of England and Wales and the Police Consultative Forum, which will provide consistency across all 43 Forces in relation to the remuneration that officers are entitled to receive, if they are required to work whilst they are on annual leave. This agreement is very similar to what has already been agreed with South Wales Police as a result of the NATO event that was held in South Wales in 2014.
If officers are required to work an annual leave day they are now from the 10th October 2018 entitled to the following:
Where an officer is required to do duty on an annual leave day they will receive:
This applies to a period of absence from duty of 3 or more days, where at least one of those days is a day of annual leave and the other days, if not days of annual leave, are rostered rest days, day taken off in lieu of overtime, public holidays (or days taken off in lieu thereof) or monthly leave days, or any combination thereof.â€
For the first 2 days of annual leave:- 2 additional annual leave days for each day worked or 1 additional annual leave day and 1 day at double time.
If officers opt for the 2 additional days then they will be entitled to claim the following:
- If an officer is a 10hr worker, 10hrs annual leave for both days. If an officer is 12hr worker, 12hrs for both days and so on.
If an officer opts for 1 additional annual leave day and 1 day at double time they will be able to claim the following:
- If an officer is a 10hr worker, 10hrs annual leave and then 10hrs at double time (our current agreement was for 8hrs only) and if a 12hr worker, 12hrs annual leave and 12hrs at double time and so on.
Any additional hours worked over your normal length of duty will be paid at time and a third.
For the 3rd and subsequent annual leave days:- 1½ additional annual leave days or 1 additional leave day and ½ day at double time.
If officers opt for the 1 and a half annual leave days then they will be entitled to claim the following:
- If an officer is a 10hr worker, 10hrs annual leave for the first day and 5hrs for the half a day. If an officer is a12hr worker, 12hrs for the first day and 6hrs for the half a day.
If an officer opts for 1 additional annual leave day and ½ day at double time they will be able to claim the following:
- If an officer is a 10hr worker, 10hrs annual leave and then 5hrs at double time (our current agreement was for 4hrs only) and if a 12hr worker, 12hrs annual leave and 6hrs at double time and so on.
Any additional hours worked over your normal length of duty will be paid at time and a third.
This remuneration will also apply for Inspectors, Chief Inspectors including Part time workers.
The above will also apply for Compensation for Duty on a Rostered Rest Days and Free Days within a Period of Annual Leave. Please note that the criteria for payment is that the officer has been required to work on a rest day that was attached to a period of absence of at least 5 days where at least 1 of those days was a day of annual leave and the other days are rostered rest days, days taken in lieu of overtime, public holidays or free days or days taken in lieu thereof).
