A South Wales chief inspector who died on this day 53 years ago is today remembered by the Force’s branch of the Police Federation.
Chief Inspector Trevor Smith, 40, died on 18 November 1972 in a road accident while he was examining students on a police driving course.
Phil Walker, chair of South Wales Police Federation, said: “Today we remember Trevor and keep the loved ones he left behind in our thoughts.
“Trevor was helping train younger officers so they could follow in his footsteps and provide an effective policing service for our communities when he sadly died.
“As a Federation, we are committed to remembering our fallen colleagues, those officers who gave their lives while serving the Force and the public.”
