South Wales Police Federation today pauses to remember two police officers who lost their lives on this day.
PC Graham Roberts died in a road accident while going off duty on 2 August 1980. He was 30.
PC Andrew James, who was 38, was hit by a car as he chased a burglar outside Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff on 2 August 2003. He later died in hospital.
South Wales Police Federation chair Phil Walker said: “Today we will pause and remember Graham and Andrew and their service to South Wales Police.
“Their deaths serve as a reminder of the risks that police officers face every day in serving and protecting the public.
“Our thoughts remain with their families and their friends.”
