South Wales Police Men’s Rugby team is hosting a golf day to raise funds for Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospice and help the squad’s journey to the World Police and Fire Games in Australia.
The event, organised by South Wales Police RFC, will take place at Cottrell Park Golf Club on Tuesday 1 September.
Teams of four can enter for £260 per team, with participants enjoying bacon rolls and coffee on arrival, a shotgun start, a meal after the round, raffle prizes, nearest-the-pin competitions and a longest-drive challenge.
The event forms part of the squad’s ongoing fundraising as they prepare to represent South Wales Police on the international stage at the World Police and Fire Games in Perth next year.
World Police and Fire Games
Earlier this year, the team received a major boost thanks to a £10,000 donation from the South Wales Police Federation Group Insurance Scheme.
Director of rugby, former PC Gareth ‘Bish’ Bishop, said: “It will be a huge honour to represent South Wales Police at the World Police and Fire Games, and we’re working hard to raise the funds needed to get there.
“Thanks to the fantastic support of the Federation’s Group Insurance Scheme, we’ve made a great start.
“Our golf day gives us an opportunity to continue that journey while supporting Tŷ Hafan, and we’d love to see the policing family and local community get involved.”
